| Philippe, (KAD MERAD), manages a post office in Provence but his wife, Julie, (ZOE FELIX), is desperate for a move to the Riviera coast - so desperate that Philippe even pretends to be disabled in order to secure the cushy job. He’s found out and, as a punishment, banished to Bergues in Nord-Pas de Calais, an area located near Dunkirk, between Belgium and the English Channel. Here the weather is notoriously cold and wet and the locals speak in almost impenetrable dialect. Philippe befriends mailman Antoine, played by the film’s director, DANY BOON, and soon begins to like his new home – though he tells Julie that it’s awful there. |  |
