| Alafolix (Stephane Rousseau, THE BARBARIAN INVASIONS) is a friend of Asterix (Clovis Cornillac, EDEN LOG) and Obelix (Gerard Depardieu, GREEN CARD) who has fallen deeply in love with the Greek Princess Irina (supermodel Vanessa Hessler). In order to win her hand in marriage, Alafolix goes to Greece to compete in the Olympic Games. However, magic potions have been banned at the Olympics and Alafolix, Asterix, and Obelix will have to use all their wits in order to defeat Cesar's conniving son Brutus (Benoit Poelvoode, MAN BITES DOG). This loose adaptation of the classic 1960s comic book ASTERIX AT THE OLYMPIC GAMES features fine performances from a talented cast. The family-friendly film's $100 million-plus budget has been spent on making a visually spectacular version of Ancient Greece for Gaulish duo Asterix and Obelix to run around in, creating chaos for their Roman enemies. |  |
